PAYMENT OPTIONS

Full Payment Option

Students, families, and schools have the option to pay for the program costs via a full payment.  This option is most easily done when the parent(s) or school chooses to pay the balance due via a credit card.

Installment Payment Options

Students, families, and schools have the option to pay for the program costs via the following installment payment schedules:

1) Installment Plan 1: Two-Payment Plan

Pay for the costs with 2 installment payments with the first payment, being 60% of the total costs, due upon registration while the second payment, being 40% of the total costs, due upon the 9th week of school

2) Installment Plan 2: Four-Payment Plan

Pay for the costs with no more than 4 installment payments starting with either September (Full-year or 1st sem. only student) or February (2nd sem. only student) and ending in either December (Full-year or 1st sem. only student) or May (2nd sem. only student), and pay 30% of the tuition cost plus fees with this registration.

Here’s what this plan will look like for

A. A full-year or first-semester-only student:  30% of the tuition plus fees due with the enrollment and then the balance will be divided into 4 payments which will be due in September, October, November, and December.

B. A second-semester-only student:  30% of the tuition plus fees due with the enrollment and then the balance will be divided into 4 payments which will be due in February, March, April, and May.

3) Installment Plan 3: Nine-Payment Plan

Pay for the costs with no more than 9 installment payments starting with September and ending in May, and I will pay 30% of the tuition cost plus fees with this registration. This plan is for students who register for the entire school year.

Students, parents, and schools are responsible for mailing in the monthly installment payments, if paying by check or money order, to NorthStar Academy so that the payment arrives to the NorthStar Academy office by the first of the month.  NorthStar Academy administrative staff members will charge the credit card on file for the student for the monthly installment payment amount on or about the 1st day of each month.  NorthStar Academy will not send out monthly hard-copy reminder notices each month to those who have chosen an installment payment option.

REFUND POLICY

Students/parents may receive a refund of their tuition costs according to the following schedule.

Weeks enrolled in NSA
% Refund
1-3
100%
4
80%
5
50%
6+
0%

The “clock” starts ticking for the refund of both Fall and Spring courses with the first week that a student enrolls in NSA or with the start of the new school year, whichever occurs later.

Our refund policy is the policy that we least enjoy enforcing, so for this reason, we want to be very intentional to communicate this policy to you. When you register your son, daughter, or student for a class or classes at NSA, you are entering into a contract that pledges several things:
  1. You are pledging and committing to paying for all of the program costs associated with your son, daughter, or student's enrollment in NSA with a stated time and amount-limited allowance for a tuition refund. If you choose to withdraw your son, daughter, or student after the beginning of the 6th week of his or her enrollment in NSA, then you are choosing to forfeit the money that you have paid for the program costs (no refund of tuition or fees), AND you remain committed to paying for the amount owed for both tuition and/or fees even after you have withdrawn your son, daughter, or student from NorthStar Academy if you have selected to pay via installment payments. When you enroll your son, daughter, or student into a NorthStar Academy class, you are reserving that place in the class for the duration of the semester or year, depending on how you chose to register and depending on the duration of the class. This reservation comes with a per class cost, so when you commit to paying for the class(es), then you are committing to pay for the right to receive instruction in the class(es) for the duration of the class. If your son, daughter, or student withdraws from the class(es) after the refund deadline, then you are still committed and obligated to pay for the cost of the class(es).
  2. NorthStar Academy is pledging to provide you with the instruction, and all associated services as described in this website, for the entire semester or school year (whichever will apply to your situation) for all of the classes that you have enrolled your son, daughter, or student in, with the exception of a class that may not "make" due to low student enrollment in which case you will receive a refund of the tuition money for that particular class or have an opportunity to select an alternate class.
Please be very sure that you agree with our refund policy before you enroll your son, daughter, or student into NorthStar Academy. If you'd prefer to limit your financial obligations, you can enroll your son, daughter, or student in the NSA class(es) for just the first semester for the purpose of "trying out" our online class(es), and then you can enroll your son, daughter, student in the second semester of the class(es) once you determine that the NSA class(es) are a good fit for your son, daughter, or student. The only drawback in following this plan is that you risk the second semester class(es) being full and thus closed to additional enrollments. This type of scenario will most likely apply only to the core classes and the very popular electives, but it is a consideration.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

NorthStar Academy offers the Saber Scholarship to each part and full-time student whose parent(s) is working for a not-for-profit organization. To receive this scholarship, the parent or supervisor must indicate this status in the online registration process and then send to the NSA office an official letter via mail, fax, or email from the parents' organization stating that the parent is a full-time employee of the not-for-profit organization; NSA will not process a registration until such a letter has been received if the parent indicated that the student is eligible to receive the scholarship.

Multiple-children discount: when a family registers 2 or more of their children with NorthStar Academy, each student receives the Saber Scholarship discount.
